A-Rod Closes on Miami Penthouse, Further Proving New Yorkers Love Buying South Florida Real Estate
Miami is hitting a home run these days in the real estate market. The runaway success of residential buildings like the Faena House in Miami Beach makes New Yorkers realize that fall does not have to mean light jackets when bikinis are much more glamorous. Amidst renewed interest, The Magic City is experiencing revitalization and the sports world is duly taking note.
Alex Rodriguez, the baseball superstar, recently purchased a 3,200 square-foot penthouse in Gran Paraiso. Located in Edgewater, the project stands between Downtown and Omni, widely known as a live-work neighborhood. In this highly desirable area, luxury skyscrapers elegantly frame the blue of the sky and Bay. Wynwood is close by, and Edgewater inhabitants can feel the pulse of a vibrant cultural scene that is only gaining strength with each monthly art walk and yearly Art Basel.
According to its official website, the unique high-rise features four towers, an ocean-view Michael Schwartz restaurant, and a plethora of fitness amenities. Marked with a 2018 completion date, the the Gran Paraiso project was entirely designed by Piero Lissoni and each residence is decorator-ready.
At 55 stories tall, a feat that required quite a few permits to say the least, Gran Paraiso encapsulates captures panoramic views as if on a cloud. Perhaps the skyscraper construction appeals to New Yorkers’ big city sensibilities while the Bay will no doubt provide a change in not just views, but lifestyle.
A-Rod has purchased others prime Miami real estate recently, including a house in South Miami-Dade, but it is unknown if he will reside in Gran Paraiso or if it his unit will be an investment. However, whether it will be his home or part of his portfolio, it proves that Edgewater is on the national radar as a premier location for Miamians and New Yorkers alike.
