Miami’s Eighty Seven Park Has Its First Celebrity Resident
New York is the unofficial capital of America. We look to the city literally and figuratively to set the standards of living. But when New Yorkers need a break from the harsh winters, they come to Miami. Some even decide to purchase vacations homes and become snowbirds. They come to experience our way of life, celebrities included.
Fredrik Eklund, star of Bravo’s Million Dollar Listing New York, which follows three power real estate agents in the Big Apple, has reserved a unit at Eighty Seven Park, which will be located at 8701 Collins Avenue in Miami Beach. Eklund is known on the show for his quirky charm and killer business instincts. When a high profile real estate agent decides to call a place home, it brings prestige to the building and the neighborhood.
Eighty Seven Park, a waterfront condo designed by famed architect Renzo Piano, is set in the exclusive Collins Avenue area. It will consist of 70 units surrounded by two hundred trees, and it will be a tall (for Miami) 20 stories standing where the Howard Johnson Dezerland Hotel once stood at a mere 10 stories. Piano, a master architect has a vision to blend the activity of the city with the tranquility of the ocean. The Miami-based Terra Group will be joining forces with New Valley and Bizzi for this project.
Given that Eighty Seven Park has not even launched its sales division and it already has a notable resident, more potential tenants will not be far behind. Eklund made it clear he was not moving full time to the Magic City, as his business is in New York. However, he felt the opportunity to purchase a property in Miami was not to be missed. Considering Miami is not as expensive as New York City and has amazing weather year round, many feel that Eklund is on point to purchase a vacation residence here.
